Festival of Debate 2023 - Event submissions now open!

Got an idea for an event for next year's Festival of Debate? We want to hear from you!

Festival of Debate 2023 will take place from 12th April - 26th May. We're looking to put together a wide-reaching programme featuring a diverse range of speakers and topic areas that speak to the key social, economic and political issues of the day.

Although the programme can and should include elected representatives, all events should be topic-based as opposed to being party political. We're open to keynotes, panel discussions, debates, plays, performances, poetry, music, comedy nights and everything in between - because a revolution without dancing is not a revolution worth having.

We encourage all events to move beyond 'naming a problem' and consider potential solutions (local, national and global) and a call to action. We will accept events that explore reform (how we do things), radical reform (how and why we do things) and systemic change (how we can change our 'operating system'), and all events should reflect the urgency of the interlinked crises we face. Although we recognise that creative responses should and will have more flexibility.

Get in touch via if you want to have a chat ahead of your event proposal submission. We have pre-existing relationships with publishers, agents, campaigners, activists and think-tanks. We can support you to bring mid to high profile names to the festival. You should think carefully about the space you are creating and the diversity of your speakers and acts.

Our 2023 programme will have three core topics of inquiry:

  • How can we respond to the climate crisis and biosphere collapse?
  • How should our society overcome inequalities of race, gender, income and disability?
  • How can we reimagine our citizenship and our democracy?

Be the change you want to see. Start a conversation.

The deadline for event submission is 25th November 2022.
